Mission Detailed Profile

About Us

Charisma Bethel Children's Home (CBCH) is currently home to approximately 50 children. The home sits on a 4.3-acre tract of land approximately 20 minutes from Surigao City on the northern tip of the island of Mindanao, Philippines. The home was founded in 1986 by Pastora Marilou Navarro of Charismatic Full Gospel Ministries of Surigao City (CFGM), in response to a series of strong typhoons that swept through the Surigao area and rendered hundreds of people homeless. The staff includes two full-time licensed social workers, a social worker intern, a pastor, live-in house parents, a dietician, and a groundskeeper. The staff members are well-grounded in the Bible and have strong relationships with Jesus.

The majority of the orphans have lost their parents or other close relatives due to death from natural disasters or abandonment. Others have parents who simply cannot take care of them. All of the children were indigent and homeless and some were severely malnourished and/or sexually abused prior to their arrival at CBCH. CBCH makes no discrimination regarding the orphans' race, creed, or religious background.

The staff workers engage the children in household chores and livelihood programs to teach the children life skills and aid in the self-sustainment of the home. Education is a high priority for the home, and includes English and Visaya (their native tongue) language studies.

The children have a Bible study every day and pray corporately twice a day that God would meet their needs and the needs of the orphanage.

Ministry Objectives

CBCH serves the southern Philippine area to provide a safe, loving, and nurturing atmosphere for abandoned children. We take children of all (or no) faiths, and instill in them a love for Jesus Christ and for other people. Second, we desire to provide the children with a first-class education. Third, we desire to provide these children with livelihood training, to provide them with life skills.
